Cannes which had a grand festival scenario 2023 announced its award winners
Director Justine Triet is the third woman to win a Palme d’Or, following in the footsteps of Jane Campion and Julie Ducournau.
76th Cannes Film Festival is finally drawing to a close. This year’s lineup was heavy on big names, with the likes of Wes Anderson, Todd Haynes, Jonathan Glazer, Wim Wenders, and Hirokazu Kore-eda all debuting new works in competition. Once all the major films screened, it was up to the jury to award the festival’s most coveted honors.
For the first time, this year’s ceremony was live-streamed for viewers around the world.

Palme d’or award winning Director on her acceptance speech Triet expressed to protest the French government’s austerity programs, including major cuts to cultural programs and pension reforms, which have sparked nationwide protests. She said the French system of “cultural exception…without which I would not be here today”
Hollywood actor Michael Douglas was also given special honorary award at Cannes 2023.
