When you look around in our industry and our own work as a cinematographer, its always subjective, You are either defending yourself for not achieving greatness because you didn’t have the gear or the time, some even feel superior to everyone else even when others feel their work is mediocre, its difficult to have an objective view.

Worse is when you feel , there is Nothing New to achieve, a lot of cinematographer suffer from a creative death.
Revenant, means a person who has returned, especially supposedly from the dead.

When some one creates history in our industry by winning the Oscar for cinematography for three years in a row, we need to understand the grand moment and listen to the man who created this film.

I found this audio interview where, I could feel that Emanuel Lubezki is an artiste who is also struggling with stalled film projects, production logistics, artistic goals, he too is an outsider… from Mexico…. He never comes across as a Guru who knows it all but as a keen student still in the process of discovering…
Comrades at Sica, we need to keep looking discovering, new ways to tell stories.
