Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was instrumental for bringing  up international Film Festival in India, to support independent films and exchange of cultural heritage of various countries through feature films.

For years Goa is been permanent venue to host IFFI.

Goa is set to host the 51st edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) from January 16-24. The week long festival aims at providing a platform to filmmakers from across the globe to showcase their work while promoting art and cultural exchange.

The 51st edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa will see a total of 224 films being screened

The festival is jointly hosted by the Government of Goa and Directorate of Film Festivals, under Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Every year life time achievement award is honoured at the venue.

Last year Cinematographer P.C.Sreeram, Director Ramesh Sippy honored as legend of Indian Cinema at this Prestigious International Event.

Oscar-winning Italian cinematographer Vittorio Storaro will be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at IFFI 2021. Storaro has three Academy Awards for Best Cinematography for Apocalypse Now (1979), Reds (1981), and The Last Emperor (1987) and he is instrumental for conducting Camerimage film festival that celeberates art of cinematography.

As a part of competitive section Golden peacock award films from various countries

As part of its international section, 15 acclaimed films will compete for the Golden Peacock Award. Argentine filmmaker Pablo Cesar will head its international jury panel. Other members of the jury include filmmakers Prasanna Vithanage (Sri Lanka), Abu Bakr Shawky (Austria), Rubaiyat Hossain (Bangladesh) and Priyadarshan (India).

7. Light For The Youth by Shin Su-won (South Korea)
8. Red Moon Tide by Lois Patiño (spain)
9. Dream About Sohrab by Ali Ghavitan (Iran)
10. The Dogs Didn’t Sleep Last Night by Ramin Rasouli (Afghanistan, Iran)
11. The Silent Forest by KO Chen-Nien (Taiwan)
12. Bridge by Kripal Kalita (India)
13. A Dog And His Man by Siddharth Tripathy (India)
14. Thaen by Ganesh Vinayakan (India)

Films screened Under Indian panorama is the best of films made in our country on various languages.

23 feature, 20 non-feature films to be showcased in Indian Panorama of IFFI

The Indian Panorama Feature Film Jury has selected 20 films and the jury’s choice for the opening feature film is Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar-starrer sports-drama Saand Ki Aankh (Hindi), directed by Tushar Hiranandani.

Apart from the jury’s choice, the list of 23 feature films includes three mainstream cinemas, including the late Shushant Singh Rajput-starrer Hindi film Chhichhore, directed by Nitesh Tiwary. Two other mainstream cinemas including Asuran (Tamil), directed by Vetri Maaran, and Director Muhammed Musthafa’s Kappela (Malayalam).
Among the other feature films to be showcased under the Indian Panorama is one Assamese (Bridge), two Bengali (Avijatrik and Brahma Jane Gopon Kommoti), one Chattisgarhi (A Dog And His Man), a Kannada (Pinki Elli?), four Malayalam (Safe, Trance, Kettiyolaanu Ente Malakha, and Thahira), a Manipuri (Eigi Kona), three Marathi (June, Prawaas, and Karkhanisanchi Waari), an Oriya (Kalira Atita, directed by Nila Madhab Panda), Tamil (Thaen), and Telugu (Gatham).

Festival opening film : Another Around.

Closing Film: Wife of a spy.
