Announcement of new cameras, lenses and lights has become a day to day activity, some time it is also tiresome to follow the workflow.

But still recent announcement of new cameras has some surprise factor that cannot be ignored.

Canon  has come with a new mirrorless full frame sensor camera model named R 3 under EOS line up, a small mirrorless camera which can record a 6k video in raw format internally…more important is without time limit.

R3  has 24MP full-frame sensor offers high-res 6K raw 12-bit internal recording and uncropped 4K 120p 10-bit recording with Canon Log 3. Both 6K and 5.6K recording areas can also be used for oversampled DCI and UHD 4K shooting with improved sharpness, reduced moiré, and lower noise. HDR-PQ recording is possible, too, for in-camera HDR production and external recording, via the HDMI port supports a clean 4K output at up to 60 fps. All-I, IPB, and IPB Light compression options are available, along with the ability to use Dual Pixel CMOS AF II when shooting at up to 6K raw.

he EOS R3 has dual card memory card slots—one CFexpress Type B slot and one UHS-II SD slot—for file-saving flexibility. The CFexpress Type B slot should be prioritized for 6K video recording and fast continuous shooting and the SD slot is a convenient alternative for backups or less speed-critical shooting.

The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini have a new wide-angle camera, which captures 47 percent more light for less noise and brighter results. It has 1.7um sensor pixels and an f/1.6 aperture, plus sensor-shift optical stabilisation from the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Night Mode works quicker and captures sharper shots. The 12-megapixel  ultra-wide camera has an f/2.4 aperture. The new Cinematic video mode supports rack focus, to shift focus between subjects even when moving. Transitions happen automatically in real time from one subject to another when a subject enters the frame or gazes away. Apple says it studied creative choices that directors of photography make to guide users’ attention.

The iPhone 13 Pro models have a new 77mm telephoto camera with 3X optical zoom, an ultra-wide camera that can now take macro shots at up to 2cm from a subject, and a primary wide camera with an f/1.5 aperture and 1.9um sensor pixels.

The camera size getting smaller and higher the resolution may trend this season…still Camera size bigger and weighing a little bit  is always advantage for cinematographer for smoother camera operations, actors too psychologically get advantage of bigger form factor.
