World photographic Day: Aug 19th

World Photography Day is celebrated on the 19th of August every year. The day is an exclusive celebration of photography’s history, photo graphy is one of the arts where humankind knows it’s invention.

France was a pioneer country in the world of photography. It gave the world its first photographic processes. Before the world could even think that a moment could be permanently captured through something like a photograph, the Frenchman Louis Daguerre created a miracle. It was in the year 1839 that Louis Daguerre invented the daguerreotype, mainly a photographic process. This process was formally declared to the world by the French Academy of Sciences.

Their invention had three key steps to that was followed more 100 years.

* Record the image

* Process the image( Developing)

* Stop  and Fix the image.

This landmark achievement was announced as free to the entire world by French Government on the 19th of August, 1839. Hence every year, this day happens to be celebrated as World Photography Day.

With various advancements in technology, we have seen many different methods of photography over the years, but the essence remains the same.

Here some iconic images that shock the world.

 

The photo of a vulture waiting for the kid to die to eat him received massive uproar the  photographer won the award and also received huge criticism

There is a picture of the Igbo tribe, during the Nigerian war where most of the people died of starvation, taken by Don Mccullin.

This photo, shook the world where a dying solider hugging the priest taken in 1962.

Art of photography and Cinematography has enhanced humans visual perception and is most rewarding gift to mankind.
