Cinema is often seen as magic on screen \u2014 but behind every frame lies the strength of labour, the discipline of technicians, and the unity of 24 crafts working as one.<\/p>\n

A film set begins long before the camera rolls.<\/p>\n

Production teams lay the foundation \u2014 planning, organizing, and ensuring every department functions smoothly. Unit hands and assistants arrive early, preparing spaces that will soon transform into worlds of storytelling.<\/p>\n

Then come the silent movers of cinema \u2014 the workers who carry trolley tracks, mount cranes, and transport heavy equipment across rough terrains, hills, forests, and crowded city streets. Every shot that glides effortlessly on screen carries the weight of their physical effort.<\/p>\n

Lighting technicians shape not just visibility, but emotion. Under scorching sun, pouring rain, or biting cold, they rig, adjust, and balance light \u2014 often standing for hours to create a few seconds of cinematic perfection.<\/p>\n

Camera teams work in precision and trust. Cinematographers visualize, operators execute, and focus pullers hold the most delicate responsibility \u2014 maintaining sharpness in constantly shifting conditions. One small error, and the moment is lost.<\/p>\n

The art department builds reality from imagination. Carpenters, painters, set assistants, and prop masters construct environments that feel real, even if they exist only for a scene.<\/p>\n

Costume designers and tailors stitch identity into characters. Makeup artists and hairdressers bring life to faces \u2014 working through sweat, heat, and time pressure, ensuring continuity and perfection in every shot.<\/p>\n

Sound technicians capture the unseen layer of cinema \u2014 dialogue, ambience, and silence. Even in the most chaotic environments, they strive to preserve clarity.<\/p>\n

Drivers are the backbone of movement \u2014 transporting artists, technicians, and equipment safely and on time, often through long hours and unpredictable schedules.<\/p>\n

And in the midst of all this, the catering and food teams ensure that no one works on an empty stomach. Whether it is early morning or midnight, they deliver warmth and energy that keeps the unit going.<\/p>\n

Assistant directors coordinate the entire ecosystem \u2014 bridging communication, maintaining discipline, and ensuring that creative vision translates into execution.<\/p>\n

Midnight shoots are not just schedules \u2014 they are tests of endurance.<\/p>\n

Shooting in rain is not just atmosphere \u2014 it is resilience.<\/p>\n

Working in extreme heat or remote locations is not just effort \u2014 it is commitment.<\/p>\n

Yet, what defines cinema is not just the work \u2014 but the culture.<\/p>\n

Technicians greet each other with familiarity and respect. A simple nod, a shared tea break, a quick helping hand \u2014 these are the unseen bonds that hold the unit together. Hierarchies dissolve in moments of pressure, replaced by teamwork and trust.<\/p>\n

Every craft depends on another. Every role supports another. This interdependence is the true spirit of cinema.<\/p>\n

There are no individual victories here \u2014 only collective achievement.<\/p>\n

On this May Day, SICA proudly honours all 24 crafts and every technician who contributes to this art form. Their work may not always be visible, but it is deeply felt in every frame we see.<\/p>\n

Cinema is not just created.<\/p>\n

It is built \u2014 by hands, by sweat, by dedication.<\/p>\n
