Schneider-Kreuznach recently at NAB 2018 has come up with a Net type filters the silk stocking trick used by cinematographers for decades and serves it in seven distinct varieties.<\/p>\n

Diffusion is one of the most practiced\u00a0 powerful tools that cinematographers try to use with optical filters and\u00a0 most effective was using ‘Lady stockings’ behind or in front of the lens by wrapping around lens tightly,\u201cNet diffusion\u201d is simply the practice of placing a thin, net-like fabric, often stockings or a netted material in front of or behind the lens<\/strong>. The fabric causes some of the light traveling through the lens to bend, while allowing the rest to travel straight through. The result is an out of focus image laid over a sharp image, which is the basic result of practically all forms of lens diffusion. Of course, different types of fabrics produce different results.<\/p>\n

True-Net Gray, also available in 2 densities, has a very natural feel. It is slightly more muted than the True-Net Black, yet it is not as heavy as the True-Net Beige, therefore retaining a pleasing contrast.<\/p>\n

According to Schneider, after lots of research, they managed to developed a technique to sandwich hosiery made on the same knitting machines since the 1950s, between their hallmark crystal clear water-white optical glass. Like the company\u2019s other professional cine filters, they are laminated, and protected from edge chipping with Schneider\u2019s Edge Seal, which also reduces edge reflection and edge.<\/p>\n

The filters are available in the 4\u2033 x 5.65\u2033 size and cost $365 USD each.<\/p>\n
