A recipient of 12 international film awards, Mrinal Sen was also a member of the Indian People\u2019s Theatre Association.<\/p>\n<p>During his career, he also won awards from the prestigious Venice Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival, Montreal World Film Festival, Moscow International Film Festival and many others.<\/p>\n<p>Sen directed Neel Akasher Neechey, the first film that was banned in independent India.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-intro\">Sen\u00a0 through his films mirrored social menace inflicted by class differences.<\/p>\n<h3
