In each stage, the expertise of DoP\u2019s is useful to bring the performance<br \/>\nrequired to support a feature film production.<br \/>\n<strong>PRE-PRODUCTION<\/strong><br \/>\nListen to the idea of the film.<br \/>\nAnalyze story structure \/ characters.<br \/>\nResearch accordingly like period, time etc&#8230;<br \/>\nDesign style, visualize approach.<br \/>\nDiscussion with director on new ideas.<br \/>\nComing to an agreement with director.<br \/>\nDiscuss budget requirements.<br \/>\nDiscuss and come to an agreement with Art director.<br \/>\nApprove locations \/ check local weather conditions.<br \/>\nDiscuss and approve set plans.<br \/>\nDetail and approve props, vehicles, costumes etc&#8230;<br \/>\nVisit camera rental places \/ Explore new equipment \/ Learn how new equipment works.<br \/>\nLook for special equipment or techniques.<br \/>\nDiscuss with C.G team for vfx.<br \/>\nDesign lighting set up plan and rigging for set and locations with gaffer and key grip.<br \/>\nChoose and approve crew, camera equipments, DI work station, lab, and visual-effects crews.<br \/>\nVisit if sets are under construction.<br \/>\nVisit to all locations and stages and co ordinate with all the departments to discuss<br \/>\nrequirements.<br \/>\nApprove set or location colours and textures.<br \/>\nApprove costume colours and textures.<br \/>\nDevise shooting plan with director and make a list of equipment for production manager and<br \/>\nindicate number of days required.<br \/>\nWork with assistant director on shooting schedule (order of and days required for each scene).<br \/>\nEstimate and order hard disk drive (type, size and quantity).<br \/>\nApprove Assistant cinematographers working for the film.<br \/>\nAssist other departments in getting required equipment, manpower and tests.<br \/>\nMaintain regular contact with other departments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TEST SHOOT<\/strong><br \/>\nfor look<br \/>\nfor lab\/ DI<br \/>\nfor lighting of Lead actors<br \/>\nfor camera and lenses<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5268\" src=\"http:\/\/thesica.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/download.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"260\" height=\"194\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>SHOOTING\u00a0<\/strong>Check list<br \/>\nCamera.<br \/>\nLens &amp; mount type (EF OR PL).<br \/>\nMatte box &amp; filters.<br \/>\nBatteries.<br \/>\nBattery charger.<br \/>\nIn- camera \/ external microphone.<br \/>\nTripod, base plate, pan&amp; tilt head.<br \/>\nAC main adapter.<br \/>\nCamera umbrella.<br \/>\nLens cleaner kit.<br \/>\nFocus kit \/ white pencil.<br \/>\nHard disc drive.<br \/>\nMemory card (camera).<br \/>\nCard reader.<br \/>\nLaptop.<br \/>\nVideo assist monitor and cables.<br \/>\nHi hat and other camera mount.<br \/>\nTrolley\/crane\/special grips.<br \/>\nWeather proof covers \/ black cloths \/ skimmer cloths.\u00a0Lighting kit with stands, cables, flags etc&#8230;<br \/>\nReflectors.<br \/>\nGenerators.<br \/>\nCheck above all equipments in order with assistant cameraman.<br \/>\nGo through the call sheets and shooting order of the day\u2019s work.<br \/>\nBlocking.<br \/>\nWatch rehearsal of scene to be shot.<br \/>\nDevise shot list with director (coverage).<br \/>\nChoose lens and composition; show to director for approval.<br \/>\nMake sure composition and movement fulfil scene task.<br \/>\nWork out mechanical problems with camera operator, assistant camera, dolly and crane grips.<br \/>\nSet any camera-movement cues.<br \/>\nPlace stand-ins and rehearse, fine-tune.<br \/>\nEnsure proper coverage of scene for editor.<br \/>\nWork with assistant director on background action.<br \/>\nLighting &#8211; Design lighting to show set\/ location to best advantage relative to story, style and<br \/>\ndramatic content. Make sure mood and tone of light help to tell story.<br \/>\nDesign light for minimum changes for other set up shots to follow.<br \/>\nSet photo flood lights (dimmers, spot lights, colour changes and any practical lamps) if<br \/>\nrequired.<br \/>\nSet any additional cameras required for shots.<br \/>\nDouble-check safety with all concerned.<br \/>\nShow shot to director to make any final changes.<br \/>\nGet actors in for final mark for lights and camera movements.<br \/>\nTeach beginning actors movie technique (hitting marks, size of frame, lenses, etc&#8230;).<br \/>\nShoot the scene.<br \/>\nApprove for correct take with the director.<br \/>\nLook for video playback.<br \/>\nMove to next set-up.<br \/>\nComplete day\u2019s work.<br \/>\nDiscuss first set-up for the next day.<br \/>\nEnsure that camera, lights, and grip crews for next day set up.<br \/>\nTake care of any future or ongoing production issues.<br \/>\nVisit production manager and producer at the end of the day.<br \/>\nCheck with DIT recorded images are being transferred safely.<br \/>\nView previous day\u2019s work in projected rushes with director, producer, editor and camera<br \/>\ncrew.<br \/>\nDiscuss and approve rushes, if any go for re shoot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>POST PRODUCTION<\/strong><br \/>\nDiscuss with editor and director.
