IFFI 2018 : WORLD CINEMA

The 49th edition of International film festival of India (IFFI) began on 20th November 2018 with a star-studded opening ceremony.
Governor of Goa Mridula Sinha, Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore and CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi graced the opening gala held at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Goa.

IFFI 2018  at Goa  will showcase 212 films from over 68 countries. Among other attractions, a retrospective of legendary Swedish filmmaker Ingmar Bergman series is one of this edition’s key highlights. Summer With Monika, Wild Strawberries, The Seventh Seal, Persona, Autumn Sonata are just some of his films that will be screened at IFFI this year.

3 FACES 

3 Faces (Persian: Se rokh ) is a 2018 Iranian drama film directed by Jafar Panahi and starring Behnaz Jafari and Panahi as themselves.
It was selected to compete for the Palme d’Or at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.
At Cannes, Panahi and co-writer Nader Saeivar won the award for Best Screenplay

The Wild Pear Tree (Turkish: Ahlat Ağacı) is a 2018 Turkish drama film directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan.

It was selected to compete for the Palme d’Or at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.
It was also selected as the Turkish entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 91st Academy Awards.

The Wild Pear Tree offers a nuanced window into the everyday realities of Turkish youth and what it means to let go of your dreams.

An Elephant Sitting Still (Chinese) is a 2018 Chinese film written, directed and edited by Hu Bo (also known by his pen name Hu Qian).

The first and last film of the novelist-turned-director Hu who committed suicide soon after finishing his film on 12 October 2017 at the age of 29, it is based on a story with the same title from his 2017 novel Huge Crack.
It made its world premiere at the 68th Berlin International Film Festival.

Shoplifters/JAPAN ( Manbiki Kazoku, literally Shoplifting Family) is a 2018 Japanese drama film directed, written and edited by Hirokazu Kore-eda.
Starring Lily Franky and Sakura Ando, it is about a family who rely on shoplifting to cope with a life of poverty.

The film premiered on 13 May 2018 at the Cannes Film Festival, where it went on to win the Palme d’Or.
The film was released in Japan on 8 June 2018 and was a critical and commercial success.
