The special screening of Thanal was held in the presence of a packed gathering from the Tamil film fraternity.
Adding to the grandeur, National Award-winning cinematographer P.C. Sreeram graced the occasion to extend his wishes to Sakthi Saravanan, the DOP of the film and Treasurer of SICA.
The event was presided over by SICA President A. Karthik Raaja and General Secretary Ilavarasu, who warmly welcomed the gathering and honored the cast and crew after the screening.
Thanal is a gritty action-thriller that first took shape in 2016. The story opens with a tense police encounter in the slums, where officers gun down a gang of bank robbers.
A year later, a mysterious figure (Ashwin Kakamanu) begins hunting down those very same officers, eliminating them one by one. What seems like a routine patrol night turns into a nightmarish ordeal for a new recruit (Atharvaa Murali), who gets caught in this spiraling cycle of vengeance.
The narrative slowly unveils the deeper conflict between the enigmatic assassin and the men in uniform, blurring the lines between justice, revenge, and survival.
The true standout of Thanal lies in its visual storytelling. Cinematographer Sakthi Saravanan delivers breathtaking work—his camera movements through narrow, confined passages and the use of imaginative lighting strokes elevate the film to a visual spectacle. This technical brilliance, combined with the intense narrative, cements Thanal as a film to watch out for.
✨ Thanal thus emerges as a blend of raw storytelling, striking visuals, and gripping performances, celebrated warmly by the fraternity at its special screening.
