The Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF) is a festival organised in the city of Chennai, India, by a film society, the Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation, with the support of the government of Tamil Nadu, the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce and the Film Federation of India, providing a common platform for the Film makers, Film students and Film enthusiasts to watch World Cinema in Big Screen.
Earlier years to watch films at International film festival is a big task one has to travel to Delhi, Goa or Trivendrum and stay for nearly ten days which amounts to huge money.
SICA this year has provided ‘Entry Pass’ to its member for Chennai Film Festival at a concession price.
The festival has been organised since 2003. It showcases international as well as Indian feature films. The Indian language films are divided into the Tamil (12 films) and the Indian panorama featured films (around 12 films).
CIFF awards are given to Tamil Films under competition section.
2018 Edition features around 150 plus films and it counts 77 world cinema, Indian Panorama 12 films, special screening 2 films, Country focus 4 films from Brazil, Contemporary section from German 5 films, Australia 3 films, Brazil 3 films, Retrospective section features award winning Director Fatin Akin’s 6 feature films and The Group of Latin American and Caribbean Countries in the United Nations (GRULAC) 11 films.
Venue : Anna Theatre, Devi, Devi Bala, Casino, Russian Culture Center, NFDC Tagore Film Centre.
