Cannes film festival is one of the most prestigious and oldest international film festival,the world’s first annual international film festival was inaugurated at Venice in 1932.

The first annual Cannes Film Festival opens at the resort city of Cannes on the French Riviera. The festival had intended to make its debut in September 1939, but the outbreak of world war two forced the cancellation of the festival.

Cannes film festival, official name Festival de Cannes, film festival held annually in Cannes France. First held in 1946 for the recognition of artistic achievement, the festival came to provide a rendezvous for those interested in the art and influence of the movies. It became an international marketplace where producers and distributors could exchange ideas, view films, and sign contracts.

First few years Cannes film festival struggled financially, as the years progressed it became one of the most celebrated film event in the world.

The official selection has been announced for the 71st Cannes film festival happening during  8th to 19th May. Here are all the titles screening.

Star Wars new edition  Solo: A Star Wars Story. directed by Ron Howard.  Star Wars fans have a surprise though as the movie, that is slated to release on 25 May, is getting a surprise Cannes Film Festival 2018 premiere on 15 May.
